New Abstracts

I have continued to enjoy more and more using the digital painting medium. allows me to explore with no use of materials and try new ideas. At the same time I will never break away from using traditional mediums. Just recently I obtained funds to go and do some decent art supply shopping. I will be diving into those supplies soon and posting work as I progress through these new ideas.

digital abstract 10

Sunday morning quickie, working on staying simple and quick with rendering. I wanted to force a time constraint on the length of time I spent on this piece. See what could be accomplished in only 2 hours or so. I am also trying to stay limited on the amount of color I use to keep myself thinking how to keep the balance and movement without expanding the color range.

New digital abstract painting. I have been trying to explore more movement in my forms even though they still have geometric attributes I feel they are taking on more of an organic pattern and flow.

Ode to a Best Friend

My first dog brandy, we rescued her from the ojai humane society way back in 2000 when my wife worked there, she lived with us until october 15 2012 the same day that zipper koko cattanach came into the world to secure a new place in our hearts. brandy was the best dog i could have asked for and made us happy for 12 some years.

adoption photo from the humane society.
illustration by Ron Lipking when we worked together, i was so excited about getting brandy i am sure it was all anyone ever heard about when around me.

Skizo Illustrations

Below is a group of newer images the girls were supposed to be pin up girl stickers for a company that dropped the ball on the project. The other pieces are sketchbook works that were taken to ink and the halfwit bull head was taken to color painted in photoshop.

Abstracts Traditional and Digital

Here are two recent abstracts I have finished in the other day. The digital piece allows me to work outside of materials I don't have right now, like paint variety. The traditional is meant to have a marine or oceanic feel to it.

Abstract canvas work 2013

This is the most recent of completed abstract work. I had to take a break due to over use, injury from that and a creative recharge. I am trying to break from the geometric constructs of my old abstract style.

skizo fa2hq pop girl digital paint

This piece is a pencil sketch that I used to do a speed painting, or limited time painting in photoshop. I did not want to get overly elaborate, i wanted to work with brighter colors and looser brush strokes.
